The Art of Tablescapingsetting the scene.

From linen selection to place card placement, the table sets the tone for the entire evening.

The Art of Tablescaping

A beautifully set table is more than decor—it’s the first promise of the evening ahead. Before a single course is served, your guests should feel the care, the intention, and the story woven into every element before them.

Start with the Foundation

Every great tablescape begins with the linen. We prefer natural fabrics—linen, cotton, or raw silk—in muted tones that let the elements on top shine. A warm ivory or soft stone sets a neutral canvas; a rich terracotta or sage adds personality without competing.

The table should feel like an extension of the room, not a separate event happening within it.

Layer with Intention

Charger plates, dinner plates, salad plates—each layer is an opportunity to introduce texture, colour, or a subtle pattern. We love mixing materials: a ceramic charger beneath fine china, or handmade stoneware paired with polished brass flatware.

The Finishing Touches

Name cards, menu cards, and a thoughtful favour tie the setting together. We always recommend hand-calligraphed cards—they add a personal warmth that printed alternatives simply can’t replicate.
